Meet our Instructors

Amy Raichert

Amy started practicing yoga in 1994 and teaching in 2004. She is an Anusara-Inspired teacher who loves learning new ways to experience being in the body, through breath alignment, organic movement, voice and play. She has spent the last 7 years dedicating her studies to the methodology of Anusara Yoga which have included detailed alignment instruction, Yoga therapy, and Philosophy with an amazing cast of teachers whom she adores greatly.

In classes she uses careful alignment techniques to line the students up both physically and energetically so that the body will open up with more ease. Her classes range from beginners to advanced-leading students through sequences to fully expand in their minds, hearts and lives. Amy believes Yoga is a grassroots movement to help awaken us to our greater consciousness and creative potential at a very crucial time ...NOW.

She is also trained in Restorative Yoga and loves to help people just let go and chill out. In her classes you can expect chanting, pranayama , a dash of philosophy and poetry. When not at the studio or on the mat she can be found sewing, shopping for vintage finds, hiking or somewhere out on the road perusing this earth.

Along with being an E-RYT 200, Astara is also a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Massage Therapist. She incorporates her knowledge of human anatomy with her enthusiasm for living the human experience with awareness.

She continues to do all three careers at once, enjoying the union of science and spirituality to understand the body. Astara thinks of yoga as the movement of two large heavy rocks together, creating the spark/prana/breath of life within a person that in turn gives a sparkle to the world. As a teacher, she aspires to show people how to move these rocks within themselves to create the light of their own unique spark and illuminate the world into a global community. Her classes have educational alignment focus to help drive the body into a healthy strong practice while incorporating a heart felt theme.

Gabriel Gavin

Yoga and I met several years go, in the form of DVD. In the first year it was an occasional “competition” with the same DVD. I came in contact with a few more DVD’s over the next year or two. In late 2006 I was introduced to a Yoga class in a gym, a male instructor, who afforded me the comfort to realize men did Yoga. I went to that class faithfully for about a year, twice a week. The changes started coming on physically, and in the form of slower thought, easier mind.

I enrolled in Teacher Training, May 2008 at Inner Vision Yoga Studio (where I received my 200 hour certification and am currently working on my 500 hour), swearing I would never teach - six months later I was. It was just the way it was supposed to happen, no resistance from myself led to this new discovery of an offering I gladly share. Now I have the opportunity to share Yoga at various locations throughout the East Valley.

I encourage one to come take a class and join in as we play on the mat and potentially realize some escape from all that can consume a person… Step out of the boundaries with a practice that can bring inspiration for realization. Thank you to all those that made this possible and to those who continue to inspire.

Irena strongly believes we can all live healthier lives and address many of our physical or emotional discomforts through a regular yoga practice.

Her focus is on connecting the breath to appropriate physical alignment, bringing meditation into motion. Her patience and compassion brings welcome to the spirit of all beings. She desires that yoga be practical, accessible, and open for everyone, regardless of any physical or mental challenges, religious orientation, or socio-economic status. Yoga is love and love is for all!

Patty teaches at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA). She teaches Beginners Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Level I & II Technique and Flow Classes, Restorative Yoga, and Yin Yoga. Private yoga and Pranassage® instruction is available by appointment.

My philosophy in teaching is to let each student find their own path through a guided experiential practice. I focus on proper yoga alignment and breath awareness. I encourage students to let go of expectations for "perfect" poses and use props to support all levels of practice from beginners to advanced students. I ask my students to move slowly and pay attention to moving the energy body as well as the physical body. Most importantly, I provide an environment where my students can relax, be in the moment and have fun!
